Charles Ralph was killed on active service on 30^th  July 1915 aged 34.  He was the son of James and Annie Ralph of 40, Liverpool Road. The 1911 census indicate that his mother was head of the family and Charles occupation is given and supernumenry railway porter, his mother was a waiting room assistant. Other family members were five youngers sibilings, four sisters the youngest aged 14 who worked as a sewing machine assistant, a drapers assistant, a dressmaker, a bookbinder and a brother at the biscuit factory.

Charles Ralph  was a regular soldier and had served for eight years in India and Africa.

 He is commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres Panels 46-48 and 50
